Polypropylene Fibers

Nytech PPF
(Polypropylene Fibrillated)

Nytech® PPF is a fibrillated polypropylene fiber that can be used as secondary/temperature-shrinkage reinforcement at 1.5 lbs/cy and a standard length of  ¾”.  The need for 1.5 lbs compensates for the lesser number of fiber elements in the fibrillated product versus the monofilament.  This product is available also in 1" and 1.5" lengths.

Nytech® PPF meets the requirements of ASTM C1116, Section 4.1.3 and Note 3 as well as ICC ES AC32, Sections 3.1.1 and 3.1.2.

The fibrillated, netlike configuration compensates for the fact that polypropylene is hydrophobic when considering bond.  The lattice pattern of the fibrillated polypropylene provides a means for the mortar to secure the product in the concrete.

Nytech® PPF will provide excellent resistance to surface abrasion, which would include waterborne particulates in a channel or canal.  Increased fatigue strength is another documented benefit.

A huge drawback to using any fibrillated polypropylene in concrete slabs is the hariy surface.

Nytech PPM:
(Polypropylene Monofilament)

Nytech® PPM is a monofilament polypropylene that is introduced at the rate of 1.0 pound per cubic yard. The standard ¾” long fiber can be used as secondary reinforcement but due to its low bond strength to concrete, monofilament polypropylene is typically used as plastic shrinkage reinforcement only.

This product provides reduced permeability as well as increased impact and surface abrasion resistance. The monofilament polypropylene is selected in some applications because it does finish better than the fibrillated polypropylene.

Specter HP:
(Monofilament Polypropylene)

HP (High Performance) is a new technology of a highly modified monofilament polypropylene micro fiber.  This technology has produced an extremely tenacious fiber with a ultra thin diameter resulting in a fiber count that is unmatched.  Hundreds of Millions of filaments per cubic yard of concrete will help to reduce early plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage cracking.

Due to its ultra thin diameter and high tenacity, HP at .5 lb/cy dosage has been shown to out perform standard monofilament polypropylene at 1 lb/cy dosage rate by a minimum of 17%.
